The State Commission for Combating Drug Trafficking and the Ministry of Youth and Sports carried out the conference "Strengthening the fight against drug addiction among the young people" devoted to the International Day against Drug Abuse and the Illicit Drug Trafficking in the “Park Inn” Hotel on June 26, 2018. First of all, I would like to greet you at the conference on the International Day against Drug Abuse and the Illicit Drug Trafficking. In modern times, drug addiction stands in front of humanity as a global problem that is causing anxiety around the world. Unfortunately, this problem exists in our country too. Promotion of healthy lifestyle and healthy physical development of the youth is one of the main directions of the youth policy implemented in our country. As you know, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed the "Azerbaijan Youth" State Program, as well as the "Youth Development Strategy of Azerbaijan". The mentioned documents contain the concrete tasks in the direction of the protection of the health of the young people and their removal from harmful habits. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is consistent in the fight against drug addiction and promotes healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, local authorities and youth non-governmental organizations regularly carry out activities to promote healthy lifestyle. A number of measures were implemented in close cooperation with the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Drug Trafficking. Dear participants of the conference! Practice shows that effective leisure time for the young people to prevent drug addiction and their involvement in mass sports are crucial. Therefore, in order to strengthen the patriotic work among the youth in the cities and regions of our republic, the Ministry of Youth and Sports creates "Youth Houses" for their comprehensive development. Currently, there are 41 Youth Houses / Centres in the country. At the same time, more than 40 Olympic complexes were built in the country to raise the healthy young generation and to ensure mass sports. Today, the steps taken by the state in the fight against drug addiction are giving positive results. However, the activity in this area should be continued and expanded further. The Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue its purposeful activity in this direction. Taking this opportunity, I sincerely congratulate you with the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. Thank you for your attention!
