The solemn opening ceremony of the “Ganja - 2019 European Sports City” project has been carried out

The solemn opening ceremony of the “Ganja - 2019 European Sports City” project was held in the Motherland of the great Nizami Ganjavi in Ganja on March 05, 2019.
First, the event participants visited the monument of the National Leader in front of the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Minister Azad Rahimov met with the young and veteran athletes representing the city of Ganja in the local and international competitions.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Niyazi Bayramov, the Head of the Ganja Executive Power, congratulated the public and the sports community on the historic event - the opening of the European Sports City 2019 project.
It was noted that big sports movement in Azerbaijan is carried out in different regions, as well as in Ganja city. Ganja athletes participate in various international competitions every year and increase their achievements.
Niyazi Bayramov highly appreciated the achievements of the national youth policy implemented by the national leader Heydar Aliyev, which is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev today. 
It was stressed that there are three sports schools in Ganja. The students of these schools earn a great deal of success both in the country and in Europe and in the world category competitions. There are professional and amateur football clubs in the city. There is a modern Olympic Sports Complex in Ganja as well as in most regions of our country.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov congratulated the sports community and the people on the occasion of the opening of the international project.
The Minister said that Ganja will carry the title of the “European Sports City 2019” with honour and that the Ganja athletes, as every year, would achieve great success this year.
The film "Karvan", which had been prepared for the opening ceremony of the project, reflecting centuries-old history, modern development and sporting achievements of Ganja, was presented to the participants based on the Order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
