The European Youth Olympic Festival will take place in Baku

The agreement on the holding of the European Youth Olympic Festival-2019 in Baku has been signed. 
Memorandum has been signed between the President of the European Olympic Committee Janez Kocijanchich, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov and Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan Chingiz Huseynzade within the 46th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee in Zagreb, Croatia.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov gave a speech at the General Assembly. The Minister expressed confidence that Azerbaijan, hosting the 1st European Games, the Islamic Solidarity Games, the Chess Olympiad, the Formula 1 Grand Prix tournament and other prestigious sports events, also will carry out the European Youth Olympic Festival at the highest level.
Azad Rahimov noted that the Olympic Movement plays an exceptional role in the bringing of the young people together in their healthy lifestyles, dreams and confidence in the future.
Within the framework of the General Assembly, the presentation of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 has been held by the Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Namiq Novruzov. During the presentation, the Head of the Department informed the participants of the Assembly about the number and types of sports competitions, the venues, the number of attendees and the possible number of officials, the buildings where athletes would stay and other important issues.

It must be noted that during the meeting, the report of the Organizing Committee on the preparations for the 2nd European Games to be held in Minsk, were also heard, as well as the Pyeongchang-2018 Winter Olympic Games, Tokyo-2020 Summer Olympic Games, Beijing-2022 Winter Olympics, the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games, the European Youth Olympic Festival-2017 in Turkey and the Winter and Summer Festivals in Hungary also have been discussed. 
At the same time, during the event, they also discussed preparations for the Youth Olympic Games to be held in 2020 in Lausanne.
